Some days are not for transformation.
They are not for reinventing yourself.
They are not for fixing your entire life.
Some days the assignment is simply:
Eat something.
Take the medication you are supposed to take.
Drink some water.
Answer one important message.
Get through the next hour.
Stay.
That is still a day.
What this can feel like
You may feel frustrated by how little you are able to do.
Especially if you are used to functioning at a very different level.
But difficult days require different expectations.
What may be happening
When you are overwhelmed, depressed, grieving, anxious or exhausted, your capacity can shrink.
Trying to perform at your usual level may create additional shame and pressure.
Reducing the assignment is not the same thing as giving up.
Something you can try today
Pick three categories:
Something for your body.
Something necessary.
Something comforting.
For example:
Drink water.
Send the important email.
Watch something familiar.
That may be enough for today.
When you may need more support
If most days are becoming survival days, or you are struggling consistently with basic care, functioning or safety, tell someone and seek additional support.
