A little help right now

I Haven't Eaten

We are not making a meal. We are getting something into you.

Okay.

Before we discuss nutrition, balanced meals, vegetables or anybody's meal-prep containers,

have you eaten anything today?

If the answer is no, or barely, let's make this much smaller.

We are not making dinner.

We're getting something into you.

What requires the least effort?

Look for whatever you already have.

Bread.

Crackers.

Fruit.

Cereal.

Yoghurt.

Cheese.

A biscuit.

Nuts.

Leftovers you can safely reheat.

A sandwich.

Something you can drink with some nourishment in it.

Whatever is realistically available to you.

This is not the moment to judge whether it constitutes an impressive meal.

If making food feels impossible...

Can you eat something that requires no preparation?

Start there.

If chewing feels like too much, a drink may be easier.

And if there is someone nearby, you're allowed to ask:

“Could you bring me something small to eat?”

You don't need to earn help by being unable to move at all.

Take a few bites.

You don't have to finish everything.

Eat a little.

Wait.

Have some water if you can.

Then decide whether you want more.

Sometimes an empty body makes an already difficult emotional state feel even harsher.

Food won't solve everything that's happening.

We're not asking it to.

We're simply giving your body something it needs while you deal with the rest.

And no guilt about what you chose.

Today, fed is more important than impressive.

Go find the easiest thing.

We'll worry about culinary excellence another day.
